Summary: Córdoba is a region from Andalusia in Southern of Spain. They have also a large extensión of olive groves of different varieties. Here we offer different premium extra virgin olive oils but they do not have Denomination of Origin. However, this selection is for coperatives from Córdoba. 1. Oil cooperatives and mills in Cordoba, Spain
Likewise, the province of Cordoba is another of the Spanish region with large extensións of olive groves. Also, this part of Spain produces extraordinary extra virgin olive oils.
Also, there are hundreds of olive oil cooperatives and mills in this area of Andalusia. For this reason, we work with several mills and cooperatives which produce extraodinary extra virgin olive oils.
In summary, we work with the followings:
a) Germán Baena Cooperative:
The Germán Baena Cooperative, located in the same municipality of Baena. This cooperative produces oils with and without denomination of Origin. In this group we have included their oils that are not protected by the denomination of origin.
b) La Purísima de Priego de Córdoba:
This cooperative is located in the municipality of Priego de Córdoba. Also, this cooperative produces olive oils with oils with and without denomination of origin. In this category we have included the oils with no denomination of origin.
c) Knolive:
The knolive oil mill is another of the best oil mills in the world. Since its oils are more and more recognized.
We are currently working with these cooperatives, but we will be incorporating more.
2. Characteristics of Cordoba
On the other hand, Cordoba, a territory where history has left its mark on its landscape. From the time of the Roman Empire, the Romans exploited these territories for the production of olive oil and to supply the entire empire. The tradition continues and these lands have not stopped giving extra virgin olive oils of extreme quality.
3. The best olive oil from Cordoba: Baena and Priego de Cordoba
Cordoba is one of the leading provinces in terms of quality and recognition of its oils, among them two areas stand out: Baena and Priego de Córdoba.
Baena: The peculiar characteristics and high quality of the oils of this region are protected under the Denomination of Origin of Baena. In this region are several varieties mixed among them, picudo, picual, hojiblanca and others, so these oils are a natural coepage.
Priego de Córdoba: Priego de Córdoba is today the most advanced area of Córdoba, with prestigious oils such as those of the Empiedro of the cooperative La Purísima de Priego de Córdoba. In this area we find mostly the varieties of olives picudo and hojiblanca, being the oils of this region a natural coupage of the varieties previously mentioned.
In this category we have included the oils of these cooperatives that have not passed the control of the Denominations.
4. Where to buy oil from Córdoba, Spain?
Extra virgin olive oils produced in Cordoba are common in many brands. One of the best-known oil brands is supplied from large quantities of oil produced here. This brand is hojiblanca.
Also, we can find major brands of Córdoba oil in the following points of sale:
a) Large supermarkets:
El Corte Inglés and Carrefour have oils produced by oil mills and cooperatives in Cordoba. Known brands such as Knolive and German Baena.
b) Shops specialising in olive oil
Such as ours in Las Rozas in Madrid. There is never a shortage of oils from these important production areas.
c) Gourmet shops.
It is probable that in the gourmet shops you will find some oil from Cordoba. However, it is more likely to be brought from Jaén.
Internet: On the Internet there are dozens of shops that sell oils from cooperatives and oil mills in Cordoba.
Therefore, as you would expect, Córdoba has a large production of oil. We can find its oils in a large number of establishments
5. Opinions
Cordoba is another of the largest producers of olive oil in Spain, and therefore, in the world. As a province of oil production, it stands out, like Jaén, for its quality. This area is not as well known, but it does have a great demand.
