Firstly, we show you the most important characterisitcs of avocado honey:

a) Color

Avocado honey is a very dark amber honey. Also, below we show you the colour ranges that we can find in an avocado honey.

b) Aroma

This honey has a somooth taste with saly notes. Also,  its aroma reminds a ripe avocado with a ligh buttery taste.

c) Avocado tree

Likewise, avocado tree is a domesticated fruit tree that come from Mesoamerica, a part of America with a tropical climate. Afterwards, it has been brought to Spain and has adapted very well to some coastal areas, such as Granada, Malaga and the Canary Islands.

d) Flowering and harvesting

The avocado tree blossoms in Spain around April, so the honey is usually harvested at the end of spring and beginning of summer.

In addition, the avocado flower is very curious, as it is both male and female at the same time. The first flower born is female. Then, half a day later, it becomes a male.

Another curious thing is that bees do not like the pollen of the avocado flower very much.

Avocado honey, like any quality honey, has bactericidal, antiseptic and healing properties.

In avocado nectar, it provides the honey with a rich source of iron, B vitamins and phenolic compounds, such as flavomoids. This honey has traditionally been used for its diuretic properties, helping us to eliminate water from the body and electrolytes that remain in our body stored.

Furthremore, its richness in iron is ideal for people with continuous anemia and tiredness. Phenolytic compounds have also great antioxidant capacity, helping to protect against aging and common degenerative diseases.

3. Kitchen uses

This honey is ideal for those who are looking for a sweet and powerful taste in their breakfast. This honey is used in salad dressings and sauces. Also, great cooks usually use it to sweeten juices made with fresh fruit, dried fruit and smoked cheese.

This honey, like all dark honey, has little tendency to crystallize. So it is normal to find it always liquid even if it has not undergone any pasteurization process.

Raw honey of avocado is obtained from a packer located in the province of Valencia. We also sometimes bring it from our beekeeper located in Cadiz.

However, we can assure you that our avocado honey comes from a serious and honest beekeeper. Our honey has no adulteration and no additives have been added.
