1. Where is olive oil produced in Spain?
Olive oil is produced in almost all provinces of Spain, except Anturias and Cantabria, in northern from Spain. Also, it is well-known that distinctive soils, climates, topography, harvesting time and olive tree varities result in different extra virgin olive oils. As a result, olive oil has become a symbol of our gastronomy and a indispensable ingredient in any dish.

However, only the public organization of Denominations of Origin can garantee the origin and the special characteristics of a region and its olive oils.

There are other areas of Spain that they do not have Denomination of Origin but the should have in our opinion. These regions produce also uniques extra virgin olive oils and have clear differences with others olive oils. So, take a look at them.

The most cultivated varieties in Spain are: picual, cornicabra, hojiblanca and arbequina. These are the most widespread, mainly throughout most of the geography. However, many other varieties can be found throughout the Spanish geography, areas and varieties that give different and unique oils.
4. In the world:
In other countries there are no other varieties of interest. The whole Mediterranean basin is a producer of olive oil. Spain is at the forefront, followed by Italy, Greece, Turkey, Tunisia…, In other continents; America, Asia and Australia we also find olive oil production, but to a much lesser extent.
