The predominant variety is the picual, although here other olive varieties, such as arbequina, hojiblanca, royal, picudo and many more.
e) New harvest
The new harvest comes every year in different moment of the winter. It depends on the wheater of this year. Normally, Castillo de Canena, Oro Bailen and Oro de Canava olive mill produce the first extra virgin olie oil of the year. However, we recommend to contact us to get current information. Over January all our olive oil are from the new harvest.
2. Best oil cooperatives in Jaén, Spain
In the province of Jaén there are hundreds of olive oil cooperatives. In El Cortijuelo de San Benito we have visited hundreds of them, in order to work with the best from the point of view of the quality of their olive oils, their seriousness and good service. Among the hundreds we have studied and visited, we have selected the following:
- San Benito Cooperative: Cooperative of which we are members and know best. For this reason, San Benito’s oil is our star product.
- Trujal de Magina Cooperative: This cooperative is located in the Sierra Magina. They produce conventional and organic olive oils, both of the picual variety. Their extra virgin olive oil is protected by the Designation of Origin of Sierra Magina.
- La Bética Aceitera cooperative: This cooperative is located in Sierra de Cazorla. Also, their olive oil come from Picual and Royal olive varieties. Their olive oil is protected by the Designation of Origin of Sierra de Cazorla.

- Cooperativa la Alharilla: Also located in the municipality of Porcuna. Like our cooperative of San Benito.
- Cooperativa La loperana: Located in the municipality of Lopera, a municipality close to Porcuna.
